Hi, the Fanling park isn’t open to general public yet. Thats what we have been trying to do ever since it got completed, if you look at my posts you may have seen some articles about this in the SCMP etc…
Anyway, the LCSD have this very cautious approach, despite having a precedent of Mei Foo skatepark, & we have to run a series of “training” courses at Fanling for a couple of months for “general public” i.e. beginners. Hopefully, after this is complete, the LCSD will consider the opening date & we hope sometime mid November.
Now for the PKV park in Diamond Hill, the LCSD there simply washed their hands of the park & handed it over to the Cycling Association & hence the designation of BMX park. We tested that park last OCTOBER (2010) & they still have not figured out how to run it, coz the LCSD & Cycling association are both trying to cover their asses. So its a bmx park, only open to BMX’ers, & even if you are a BMX’er, you had to get a permit / licence to ride that park, which means you need to undergo an assessment / training by the cycling association. Total bullshit & Bureaucracy at its BEST. Big waste of taxpayers dollars for that one, if you ask me.
